The Ringside Boxing Brand

When I began developing the social media plan in 2019, Ringside already had a large following on social media. But that audience hadn’t seen any kind of consistent engagement for almost two years. The goal was to create engaging content that would build excitement around a brand that had largely disappeared from the social space.

I built a posting calendar around a different kind of content for each day of the week. Motivation Monday, Technical Tip Tuesday, and Thoughtful Thursday were the titles we used internally to organize content for each day. My goal for 2020 was to build out our content creation capability to complete our weekly content calendar with the addition of Way-Back Wednesday (focusing on the history of Ringside and the Sport of Boxing) and Featured Friday (where we focused on a member of our community).

Motivation Monday

Motivation Monday posts centered on a specific quote or passage of text. I designed these posts to inspire our audience and community. Every Monday (barring holidays) we delivered inspiration to our audience.

Goals: Provide Sharable Content; Keep Audience Engaged; Increase Audience Size

technical tip tuesday

What we referred to as Technical Tip Tuesday was a part of our effort to promote our weekly blog content. I created posts for Facebook and Twitter because these platforms encouraged users to click through to the content on the other side. This type of content did not work well on Instagram.

Goals: Drive Traffic to Website; Provide Shareable Content

THoughtful thursday

Thoughtful Thursday ended up being a place where I asked our audience for their thoughts and opinions. In some cases, we were able to tie these questions to the overall content themes that organized our blog posting. But in most cases, these questions were inspired by the discussion I saw happening in the greater boxing community.

Goals: Drive Engagement; Learn from our Community; Provide Insights to Products team
